Jan 14, 2017 · Remove speaker cover and unscrew two screws. Remove two screws for cover and pull off. Remove Harnesses. Everything exposed. Remove old GPS module and stick new GPS module to the top of it with double sided 3M tape. Clip unit back in orig location. Route wire down to Sync unit. Perhaps the best feature is that sync 3 includes Android Auto (and Apple Carplay) which allows me to access google maps navigation and spotify for endless music choices and more. The sync 3 screen and apim I purchased came from a 2017 explorer. The important things to look for are NAV or non-NAV and recessed mounting points. It’s no longer driven by a software difference as the non-NAV apims have significantly smaller storage. There are also two mounting arrangements, flush and recessed.12.
